Making a life-size chocolate skull for Halloween with blood-red raspberry coulis is a fun and spooky DIY project. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do it yourself:

Materials

Ingredients:

White chocolate skull

  • 24 oz or more of white chocolate, depending on the size of your mold.

Raspberry coulis

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen raspberries
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Method:

Raspberry coulis

  1. In a saucepan, combine the raspberries, sugar, and lemon juice over medium heat. Cook until the raspberries break down and the mixture thickens (about 10 minutes).
  2. Once cooked, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove seeds. Let it cool completely.
  3. Pour the cooled coulis into a small container, and set aside for later.

White chocolate skull

  1. Break the white chocolate into small pieces for even melting.
  2. Melt and temper your chocolate.
  3. Pour the tempered white chocolate into both the front and back of the skull mold. Tilt the mold to ensure the chocolate spreads evenly into a smooth, thin layer. Turn the mold upside down to let any excess chocolate drip out.
  4. Place the mold in the fridge for 30 minutes to harden.
  5. Apply a second layer of chocolate to reinforce the skull. Using a clean, food-safe brush, carefully coat the inside of the mold with melted white chocolate, making sure to brush up the sides for an even, smooth layer.

Assemble the Skull

  1. Once fully hardened, gently remove the white chocolate skull halves from the mold.
  2. If your skull mold comes in two halves, warm a plate slightly and gently press the edges of the halves against the plate to melt them slightly. Quickly press the halves together to “glue” them together.

Serve with raspberry coulis

When serving the skull, pour the raspberry coulis over the top. Warm the coulis if you want it to melt parts of the skull, adding a dramatic effect.

Enjoy your spooky, delicious white chocolate skull with a raspberry twist!

Perfect for Halloween parties! 🍫💀
